The overall objective of the Regional Stakeholders Conference on Lake Victoria was to draw attention to the declining Nile perch stocks in Lake Victoria and to call for collaborative efforts to ensure responsible utilization of the fisheries resources at all levels.

The Conference brought together a wide spectrum of stakeholders particularly comprising of Honorable Ministers from the three Partner States and Members of Parliament from lakewide constituencies, Members of EAC Legislative Assembly, Policy makers, Researchers, Local Government leadership, Police, Judiciary, Private Sector, Beach Management Units, Civil society and representatives of  the international community.
